Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of our websites, communications and donation services. By using our sites or subscribing, you accept these terms.
About Us
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is a non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization fighting for lower taxes, less waste and accountable government.
Communications
When you subscribe, we may send you updates on our activities, campaigns, petitions, events and fundraising. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
If you opt in to our text message program, we may also send you text alerts. Reply STOP to any text to opt out. Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply, and message delivery depends on your carrier and device.
Donations
The CTF is a not-for-profit organization, not a registered charity. Donations are not tax-deductible and we do not issue tax receipts.
Donations are contributions to the CTF’s general advocacy work. Where a donation is made in response to a specific campaign, we may apply it to that campaign or, where the campaign is fully funded or concluded, to our other advocacy work at our discretion.
By setting up a recurring donation, you authorize us and our payment providers to charge your payment method on the schedule you selected until you cancel. Cancellations take effect for the next scheduled charge; contact us at least 5 business days before your next charge date in writing by email to admin@taxpayer.com
Donations are final and non-refundable, except as required by law or where we determine, in our sole discretion, that a refund is warranted (for example, a duplicate or unauthorized transaction). Refund requests should be made in writing by email to admin@taxpayer.com within 30 days of the donation.
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers, subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for errors, delays or fees caused by your bank, card issuer or the third-party payment processor.
Your Privacy
Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Website Content and Intellectual Property
Content on our sites is for information and advocacy purposes only. It is not legal, tax, financial, accounting or investment advice, and you should not rely on it as such. Consult a qualified professional before making decisions about your own taxes or finances. While we work to keep our content accurate, we do not warrant that it is complete, current or error-free, and we may change or remove content at any time.
Content on our sites — text, reports, graphics, logos, videos — belongs to the CTF or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view, download and share our content for personal, non-commercial purposes, and share it on social media with attribution to the CTF. Any other reproduction, modification or commercial use requires our prior written permission. “Canadian Taxpayers Federation” and our logos are trademarks of the CTF and may not be used without permission.
You agree not to misuse our sites, including by attempting unauthorized access, scraping, or interfering with site operation. Our sites may link to third-party websites; we’re not responsible for their content or practices.
Limitation of Liability and Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the CTF and its directors, officers, employees and agents are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages — including lost data, lost opportunity, or interrupted service — arising from your use of, or inability to use, our sites, communications or services, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you donated to the CTF in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. This section survives any termination of these terms.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the CTF and its directors, officers, employees and agents from any claims, damages, losses or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of our sites, your violation of these terms, or any content you submit to us.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, will always be posted on this page. For material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as a notice on our sites or an email to subscribers. Your continued use of our sites or services after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to our sites, communications or services at any time, without notice, including where we believe you have violated these terms. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, limitation of liability and indemnification) will survive.
General Provisions
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and the CTF about your use of our sites and services. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce any part of these terms is not a waiver of it. You may not assign your rights under these terms; we may assign ours. These terms do not create any partnership, agency or employment relationship.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Saskatchewan and the laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of our sites will be resolved exclusively in the courts of Saskatchewan, and you agree to that jurisdiction.
